Building Security
Only visitors who have pre-registered will be allowed through security. All visitors should be prepared to submit to a personal inspection prior to entering the building. These inspections may be conducted with a handheld monitoring device, a metal detector, and by visible inspection. Additionally, your personal belongings may be inspected and passed through an x-ray machine.
HHS requires visitors to present government-issued identification for access to its facilities. For visitors presenting a State-issued driver’s license or identification card, HHS only accepts such documents if they are issued by States that are REAL ID compliant. If the State that issued the license is listed as noncompliant to facilitate access, the individual should bring an alternate form of government-issued photo ID such as a passport or Federal employee, military, or veteran identification card. Please make sure that the name on your official identification matches the legal name you provide during online registration, as you may be denied access if there is a discrepancy.
The following States and Territories are not Real ID compliant. Therefore an alternate form of government-issued ID is necessary for access to 5600 Fishers Lane:
- American Samoa.
- Minnesota.*
- Missouri.
- Washington.*
* Enhanced Driver’s license is an acceptable form of ID to gain access to 5600 Fishers Lane.
Following the onsite security inspection, you will be provided with a badge that must be prominently displayed on your person at all times. When exiting the building for the day, meeting participants must return their badges to the security desk.
Once in the building, visitors must be escorted at all times. AHRQ staff will designate escorts who can accompany meeting participants.
