a Recommended hospital care practices for pneumonia includes collecting blood cultures before administering the first dose of antibiotics, administering the first dose of antibiotics within 6 hours of patient’s arrival at the hospital, administering the recommended empirical antibiotic regimen consistent with current guidelines, screening for influenza vaccine status and vaccinating prior to discharge for patients age 50 and over discharged during the winter, and screening for pneumococcal vaccine status and vaccinating prior to discharge for patients age 65 and over.
