Sign Up for TeamSTEPPS Training
Beginning in April 2024, AHRQ will offer virtual and limited in-person TeamSTEPPS 3.0 and TeamSTEPPS Diagnosis Improvement trainings led by experienced facilitators at no charge to participating healthcare teams and individuals. These trainings will prepare participants to improve team communication, manage challenges more collaboratively, and successfully implement TeamSTEPPS to improve patient care at their organization.
2024 Training Opportunities
From April to November 2024, AHRQ will hold training events for each of the two TeamSTEPPS curricula.
TeamSTEPPS 3.0 Course
This training is designed to help healthcare teams strengthen teamwork and communication skills together and identify and address patient safety risks more effectively. Each of the four modules in the curriculum focuses on one essential skill of the TeamSTEPPS framework—communication, leadership, situation monitoring, and mutual support. This shorter offering provides detail on the TeamSTEPPS 3.0 key skills. The conclusion of the course will direct learners to the implementation resources on the AHRQ website to learn more about how to implement these tools at their facility. |
TeamSTEPPS 3.0 – Mini-Session |
Mini session 2 hours No CE offered |
Individuals, instructors or team members, those already familiar with TeamSTEPPS, as well as patients, families, and caregivers |
This highly customizable mini-session can be tailored to fit the specific needs and interests of an individual or team. This session would focus on one or two tools or strategies of interest or provide a broad overview of TeamSTEPPS for those who are interested in learning more before proposing TeamSTEPPS to their leadership. For those already implementing TeamSTEPPS, this session could serve as a refresher on the curriculum or an opportunity to find an additional tool or strategy to add to your toolkit. |
TeamSTEPPS Diagnosis Improvement Course
This training applies the TeamSTEPPS framework to the specific problem of diagnostic error. This training is conducted in a 1-day, 8-hour session. Facilitators will guide participants through the curriculum and participants will explore how improved communication among all members of the care team can help lead to safer, more accurate, and more timely diagnosis in all healthcare settings. A training team member will be in touch to help you and your team identify your organization’s goals and needs, complete pretraining activities, and schedule a training session based on your availability.
