Howard Holland
Director, Office of Communications (OC)
Howard Holland leads efforts of OC to promote the results of Agency-sponsored research and to foster the implementation and use of AHRQ tools and products. Prior to serving as OC's Director, Mr. Holland was assistant to then AHRQ Director, Carolyn M. Clancy, M.D. Prior to that, he was a member of OC's staff, focusing on media and marketing activities.
Before coming to the Agency, Mr. Holland was manager of external communications at the American Occupational Therapy Association, Bethesda, MD. He also worked at the National Hospital for Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, Arlington, VA, where he was Assistant Director of Public Relations and Physician Liaison. Before that, he worked for the metropolitan Washington, DC, chapter of the Arthritis Foundation.
He is a graduate of Furman University, Greenville, SC, and Duke University's Divinity School.
