AHRQ National Advisory Council to Meet Virtually on July 14

The National Advisory Council for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) will meet virtually on Wednesday, July 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. E.D.T. The council provides advice to the secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the director of the agency. The council consists of 21 members from the private sector and seven ex-officio members from other federal health agencies.

The meeting will feature several presentations by AHRQ leaders, including:

• Review of recent agency accomplishments in research, practice improvement, and data and analytics by Francis D. Chesley, Jr., M.D., Director, Office of Extramural Research, Education, and Priority Populations, and Director, Office of Minority Health; Jeffrey Brady, M.D., M.P.H., Director, Center for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety; Arlene S. Bierman, M.D., M.S., Director, Center for Evidence and Practice Improvement; and Joel W. Cohen, Ph.D., Director, Center for Financing, Access and Cost Trends
• Discussion about budget opportunities by David Meyers, M.D., F.A.A.F.P., Acting Director
• Discussion about advancing telehealth by Jaime Zimmerman, M.P.H., P.M.P., AHRQ Telehealth Co-Lead and Keith T. Kanel, M.D., M.H.C.M., AHRQ Telehealth Co-Lead and Director, Division of Practice Improvement
• Discussion about patient safety opportunities by Jeffrey Brady, M.D., M.P.H., Director, Center for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety and Erin Grace, M.H.A., Deputy Director, Center for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety
