Data and Impact from the National Nursing Home COVID-19 Network

The AHRQ ECHO National Nursing Home COVID-19 ACTION Network, through the University of New Mexico ECHO Institute, contracted or subcontracted with 99 academic medical centers, healthcare delivery systems, and quality improvement organizations to form training centers that provided small-group training and mentorship to 9,058 nursing homes in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

The 99 training centers that provided free training and mentorship to nursing homes across the country are represented on the map below. The percent of nursing homes participating in each state is also represented.

Notes:

• Training Centers provided training and mentorship to 9,058 out of approximately 15,400 eligible nursing homes in all 50 States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico
• The participation rate in Puerto Rico reflects only Medicare/Medicaid certified nursing homes and does not include more than 30 other patient care organizations in Puerto Rico that also received training and mentorship.
• Hawaii and Pennsylvania had existing state programs for nursing homes. As a result, recruitment in these states was limited.

Network Training Centers and Nursing Homes Served

The Network’s individual training centers and the number of nursing homes they reached are displayed in the table below. The number of cohorts (small groups of nursing homes) and training sessions are also shown.

Notes: Some nursing homes received support from more than one training center. The total unique number of nursing homes served is 9,058.
